What we repair

Automotive & diesel services in Prescott

Most drivers here need one shop that can handle the commuter car and the work truck. That is how we are set up. Every job starts the same way: find the actual fault, explain it in plain language, quote it, then repair it.

Diesel Repair

Steiner Auto & Diesel repairs light- and medium-duty diesel pickups and work trucks at 690 6th Street in Prescott, AZ. Bring in a hard-starting, smoking, derating or check-engine diesel and we diagnose the cause first, then quote the repair before any parts go on. Call (928) 710-1333, Monday through Friday, 7:30am to 5:00pm.

Brake Repair & Replacement

We repair brakes at 690 6th Street in Prescott and resurface rotors in-house on our brake lathe instead of automatically selling you new ones. Pads, calipers, hoses and lines, plus a straight answer on what actually needs replacing. Call (928) 710-1333.

Engine Repair

From leaks, noises and misfires to complete engine replacement, we handle engine work on gas and diesel vehicles at our Prescott shop. We diagnose the failure and explain whether repair or replacement makes financial sense for your vehicle before you commit. Call (928) 710-1333.

Diagnostics

A trouble code names a circuit, not a broken part. We diagnose check engine lights, electrical faults and drivability complaints in Prescott with scan data and testing, then quote the repair we can prove you need. Call (928) 710-1333.

Transmission & 4WD

We service automatic transmissions and 4-wheel drive systems in Prescott: fluid flushes, filter changes, shifting complaints, transfer case and differential work. Call (928) 710-1333 to describe what the vehicle is doing.

Air Conditioning

Air conditioning that blows warm is almost always a leak, an electrical fault or a failed compressor, not a system that simply 'needs a charge'. At 690 6th Street in Prescott we test the system, find where the refrigerant went, and quote the repair. Call (928) 710-1333, Monday through Friday, 7:30am to 5:00pm.

Electrical Repair

Electrical faults are where guesswork gets expensive. We trace the circuit, voltage drop testing, wiring diagrams and live data, and repair the actual fault instead of replacing parts until the symptom disappears. Electrical repair at 690 6th Street, Prescott. Call (928) 710-1333.

Steering & Suspension

Clunks, wander, uneven tire wear and a loose steering feel usually trace back to worn suspension and steering components. We replace shocks, struts, tie rod ends, ball joints and complete suspension assemblies at our Prescott shop. Call (928) 710-1333.

General Repairs & Maintenance

Routine maintenance done properly is the cheapest work you will ever pay for. We handle scheduled services, fluids, filters, belts, hoses and cooling systems on gas and diesel vehicles, and we tell you what is genuinely due rather than reading you a menu. Call (928) 710-1333.

Why drivers keep coming back

Honest work at a fair price

Brake work is a good example. We keep a brake lathe in the shop, so when a rotor still has material and no cracking or heat damage, we resurface it instead of automatically selling you a new one. That single decision saves customers money on one of the most commonly over-sold repairs in the industry.

The same thinking applies to diagnostics. A trouble code names a circuit, not a broken part, so we test the circuit before condemning a component. It takes longer than reading a code at a parts counter, and it is the reason you do not pay twice.

When customers come to us, we treat them like family and make sure the job is done right every time. Our goal is always to deliver honest work at a fair price.

Reviews from Prescott drivers

Rated 5 stars by Prescott drivers on Google

These are real reviews from our Google Business Profile, reproduced word for word. The same themes come up again and again: the fault gets explained, nothing gets sold that you do not need, and the price beats the dealer.

I highly recommend Steiner Auto & Diesel. My story is that I am not a “car person” and I don't have a lot of extra money to throw at repairs. But like so many others, because I must rely on a mechanic to be honest about what my car needs and on what time line, I know that in the world at large I am vulnerable to being over charged or over serviced. In general I have been taught to be distrusting of this industry because of all the bad stories, and I have experienced some of those stories myself at other places. Steiner Auto and Diesel completely take that concern away and replaced it with trust and reliability. They are experts, they are professional and, importantly, they are honest; they have integrity about doing valuable service and they do great repairs. I feel more secure as a car owner knowing I have them in my phone. I will continue to bring my car to Steiner Auto & Diesel, and recommend them to anyone.

Where our customers come from

Serving Prescott and the quad-city area

We are based in Prescott and regularly service vehicles from across Yavapai County. Mile-high winters, long grades and dirt-road miles create predictable wear, and that shapes what we inspect first.

Questions we actually get asked

Common questions before you call

What kinds of vehicles do you repair?
Gas and diesel vehicles, from daily-driver cars to diesel pickups, work trucks and local fleet units, plus the classic trucks and muscle cars people bring us.
Where is Steiner Auto & Diesel located?
690 6th Street, Prescott, AZ 86301, open Monday through Friday, 7:30am to 5:00pm. Call (928) 710-1333.
Do I need an appointment?
Call first at (928) 710-1333. Scheduling the work means your vehicle gets into a bay instead of sitting in the lot.
How much experience does the shop have?
Over 25 years of hands-on automotive and diesel repair experience, and the shop is owner-operated, so the person accountable for the work is on site.
Do you offer tires or wheel alignments?
Yes, both. Tire replacement and wheel alignment sit alongside brakes, engines, transmissions, electrical, air conditioning and exhaust work.
Will you tell me what a repair costs before you do it?
Yes. We diagnose first, explain what failed, then quote the repair. Nothing gets replaced without your approval.
