Batteries in Arizona live a hard life. Heat is harder on a battery than cold is, and Prescott gives you both, so plates degrade faster here than the sticker life suggests. But before we sell anyone a battery, we confirm the battery is actually what failed.
Three different faults look identical from the driver's seat: a worn battery, an alternator that is not charging, and something on the vehicle drawing current while it is parked. Each requires a different repair, and only one of them is fixed by a new battery.
What we handle
Load and conductance testing
We test the battery's actual capacity under load rather than reading resting voltage, which can look fine on a battery that will not start the vehicle tomorrow morning.
Charging system output
Alternator output and voltage regulation are checked at idle and under electrical load, because an undercharging alternator kills batteries in sequence.
Parasitic draw testing
If the vehicle is dead after sitting two or three days, something is staying awake. We measure the draw and trace it to the circuit.
Terminals, cables and grounds
Corroded terminals, swollen cable ends and poor ground straps cause hard starting and strange electrical faults that get blamed on the battery.

What affects the price
We do not publish flat prices, because quoting a repair before diagnosing it is how people get surprised on the invoice. These are the factors that move the number on this type of job:
- Whether testing is a straightforward battery and charging check or a parasitic draw hunt
- How intermittent the fault is, since a draw that only appears sometimes takes longer to catch
- Whether corroded cables or ground straps need replacement rather than cleaning
- Vehicle access, as some batteries are under seats, in fenders or in the cargo area
